Dying a Slow Death

Okay, so I’ve barely posted at all this month, and I still have fun stories and pictures to share.  But I swear I’m not pulling an Alexis, where I promise to tell a fun story then don’t!  I am, in fact, being KEPT from posting!  By whom, you ask?

You can blame a little guy called “ThinkPad.”  That’s right – my old, ghetto IBM laptop is slowly killing itself.

See, here’s the thing.  This guy is old.  And stuffed so full of files and, in all likelihood, viruses, that it has been processing slower and slower and slower over the past year.  It’s been inconvenient, but not unmanageable.  That is, it wasn’t unmanageable until about a month ago.

All of a sudden, ThinkPad started acting out.  The BF’s log-in name inexplicably stopped working, so he had to use mine.  We were confused, but ignored it.  Then, about a week later, my log-in name stopped working.  Hmmm.  We thought about it and thought about it.  We went over all of our computer related moves… and couldn’t come up with a single thing that we’ve done that would change the laptop.  We hadn’t downloaded anything.  We hadn’t even created a new Word doc.  NOTHING.

Now, we can only log-in as the “Administrator” – a remnant from when this was my old work laptop – and have no fun programs.  All of my internet “favorites” are gone.  I can’t listen to my iTunes.  I can’t watch movies or clips.  And since the Admin log-in is slowing down now, I’m too scared to try and download anything.  PLUS, if I’m online for too long, or try to open more than one internet window, Internet Explorer crashes.

Sigh.

So, the time has come for us to pony up the dough and get a new laptop.  Obviously, with all the Christmas present shopping I have to do, this is not the best time… but I can’t wait to get a Mac!  So, bear with me for now.  I’ll be back soon, I promise!

Giving Thanks

As I write this, I am watching my beloved Trojans prepare to kick some Irish @ss, and it’s reminding me – belatedly – that I meant to talk about the three things I am most thankful for this year.  That’s what Thanksgiving is for, right?

So here we go…

  1. I’m thankful that the Trojans have been doing well.  It’s distracting me from the disaster that the Green Bay season has been.  I’m not giving up on my Packers, obviously (I know they can still pull themselves together!), but having a great college team helps ease the sting.  Thank you, Trojan men! :)
  2. I’m thankful for the Democratic victory in the midterm elections.  Now, I’m just praying that we actually get some sh*t done.
  3. I’m thankful that Britney finally, finally, dumped that loser husband of hers.  I can feel that her hotness will rise again!

Is it sad that I can’t decide if I’m more thankful for the Democratic wins or the Britney dumping?  Does that make me shallow?

Ah, I don’t care.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go watch the Trojans!

I’m Missing You…

I was going to post – I have a few fun things to post about, since I haven’t been online in 500 years – but I just spent the last half hour deleting spam from my comments section.  And now I’m too tired to post.

So, with that, I leave you with this thought:

When playing @sshole with a group of drunks, it’s not a good idea to play with vodka instead of beer.  Why?  Because then you end up like me – blacking out, acting like a fool, and eventually passing out in front of the USC game with a lion hat on your head.

I am a drunk fool

Sometimes I wonder how I have any friends.
