ANTM Rocks My World

I took a break from obsessing over boys that turn down sex to obsess over something much more real and dramatic… America’s Next Top Model.
This is the ONLY “reality” show that I deem to be worth my time, as the rest focus too much on women making @sses of themselves for men or money. Women making @sses of themselves to be a model however… that’s entertainment! (Disclaimer: I don’t consider “Project Runway” to be “reality” TV, so I watch that show too. But whatever… that’s a different topic for a different day.)Â
At any rate - I’m SO PISSED OFF that they dumped Mollie Sue! She was so fun and different and spunky! AND JADE IS STILL HERE! ARGH! I HATE HER HATE HER HATE HER!Â
Whew. Got that out of my system.
Here’s the thing about Jade that ticks me off - she’s the girl on the show that constantly says ridiculously stupid, mean, condescending things… and really doesn’t seem to realize that she’s being a b*tch. She says things like, “I’m not here to make friends. I’m here to win!” (Because clearly, you can’t be nice AND win) and “When people first meet me they think I’m a b*tch. But the people that KNOW me know that’s not true. I’m really grounded and real!” (Ummm, Jade, if the only people that “like” you are people that have known you for years, that doesn’t mean you aren’t a b*tch. It just means they’ve gotten used to your horrifying personality.)
I’m appalled. Now that Mollie Sue is gone, I lost one of my top four favorites in this cycle. Danielle, Nenna, and Leslie… you’re all I’ve got left.
For fabulously fun reviews of ANTM, may I suggest fourfour? Hilarious! Sadly, yesterday’s recap isn’t up yet… but I eagerly await!
They will keep her on until the end, because she is what reality TV is all about…drama! But she won’t make the final. I think she looks gross.
GIRL WHAT!!! When I saw that mess I was just mad. I don’t know WHO made that decision…molly is really cute…and Jade just irks me in so so many ways. She is nasty…
My gfs and I think it was a ploy for better ratings, but I am not sure they watch the episodes before voting.
Oh, the decisions are all about making a better show, not doing justice to the contestants. I’m not sure if ANTM has this disclaimer or not, but it’s routine to see “reality” shows briefly flash a notice that producers (as opposed to judges) have control over the final decisions.
I was particularly surprised in the first episode when they dumped that uber-Christian girl. I thought a show of her spouting anti-gay rhetoric to everyone in the modeling industry would have been fascinating, but I guess the producers thought otherwise. (For the record: My girlfriend watches this show, but yes, I have been known to get sucked into it. Also, it’s on just before Lost so we’re usually near the TV anyway.)

Jason, don’t try to pretend you don’t LOVE the show. My BF pretends it bothers him when I watch, but I think he secretly loves it.
Some friends & I watch it together. Usually we sit & chat after the episode. Last week we just sat there, sad & quiet, & all went home early. It was a sad, sad evening.
p.s. Thank you for posting this. I thought I was the only one who felt so strongly about stupid, mean Jade.
Whenever Jade says something stupid, its a big crime but when someone else says something that’s catty its somehow overlooked! Has Joanie portrayed herself to be somewhat of a bitch these last few episodes or NOT? She’s been picking fights with Jade (just like Furonda said on TALK MODEL) but that’s not edited that way. They said she cooked for the girls all the time–but hey, why mess up a good cover-up to actually show that this girl isn’t all bad. I think it sucks–but that’s television. This is a reality show about a MODELING COMPETITION…if you are going to decide that a couple comments about a woman who’s going after her life’s dream should be more of a deterrant for her losing than her pictures–than YOU’RE the one that’s not “real”. Fact of the matter is, sometimes the things Jade say do “irk” me–but often times, it doesn’t because she’s doing her THING. Don’t fool yourselves into believing that the only reason why Jade is still there is because she provides drama–HARDLY! Live in denial or not, but Jade is a STRIKING woman with the FIERCEST body there and takes KICK ASS pictures every week. THAT is the truth. Even NIGEL said that he’s changed his perception of Jade when he worked with her–because he only saw one side of her, as well.
Try to step back from your pre-conceived notions long enough to realize that there’s alot of editing to cut this show to provide you people alot to love and something to hate, can we all say “Jade”?? I’m not falling for it–and I’m surprised you are.
