Wedding Season

Wedding bells are ringing all over the freakin’ place…

I’m going to a wedding in CT this weekend – my boyfriend is one of the groomsmen, so I’ll be drunk the entire time. Okay, in all seriousness, it should be a lot of fun, and I’m excited to wear the new dress I bought (That’s so girly, I know.). But this whole “getting married” thing is a little bit much for me right now.

If you read my piece in the Better Drink in June, you know that I have some trouble with the fact that my friends are getting married. I mean, I’m obviously happy for them, and wish them all the best. But… I just don’t get how people my age are mature enough to get married.

Sure, someday I want to get married. But not anytime soon! I’m only 25, and I’ve only been out of college 3 years. I’m SO not ready to get hitched. For the most part, I don’t have to think about it, but lately, more and more weddings have been popping up on my radar. My two best friends are in the midst of maid-of-honor duties for their other best friends (does that make sense?), and my boyfriend’s friends are all about getting hitched. And so, this summer has been all about me confronting the fact that I am apparently more immature than anyone else I know.

My family, and a few friends (you know who you are), have been trying to pump me about my marriage plans – they seem to think I should be married with kids by now. I keep telling them to chill, but I know they’ll ask again, and I am getting tired of defending my right to stay unmarried. Stop trying to make everyone get married! There’s nothing wrong with being un-engaged.

Anyways, now that I’ve ranted, I’m done until Monday.

Have a great weekend!

I have a good idea! Since I’m getting married in April 2006, just tell people who are all “in your face” about getting hitched that Stephanie and I are a good example – I’m 35 for crying out loud! Young enough to get married I think :)

    Have a great weekend.

Yeah! I think you and Steph are a great example of taking your time. I’m psyched for you guys, and had best be invited to the wedding – I sense it will be a fabulous party. :)
