A Little of This, A Little of That
One of my favorite summer things to do is barbeque. I love getting together with friends, having beer, and lounging around while someone prepares food for me. Hey, I’m not completely lazy – I’ll always either prepare or buy a side dish. Anyways, being that I love barbeques, you can imagine my joy when I got to go to TWO this weekend. Sure, one was in the rain (freaking Boston weather), but both had great food and good company.
Other than that, I don’t have much to say – things are getting crazier and crazier by the day, both at work and home, so I feel like my brain is about to short circuit. Hopefully things will settle down a little bit in August….
Oh, one more thing – is anyone else completely appalled by Jessica Simpson’s remake of “These boots are made for walkin”? In the first place, Nancy Sinatra’s version is a classic, and it’s tough to redo classics. But when you turn it from a cool, tough girl song into an excuse to sing and dance poorly, it makes me want to hurl. Three things in particular: 1. Jessica, you have a smokin’ body, but you can’t dance. Stop trying. 2. Where’s her voice? Isn’t one of the “good” things about her that she can hold a tune? If so, why is this song so computerized/synthesized? 3. In the car wash scene in the video – which is obviously just an excuse to put Jessica in a bikini and have her gyrate on top of the confederate flag – couldn’t they have at least pretended to make it about the song and have her wearing the boots with her bikini? Jeez…. Jessica – stop doing remakes. You keep slaughtering them.
