I’m So Tired of Being a Grown-Up

h1 May 4th, 2005

It’s weird… at the same time that I don’t really feel like I’m an adult, I am SO tired of being a grown-up.

I hate paying rent and utilities and credit card bills and student loans, watching my bank account balance dwindle. I’m tired of waking up every morning at 6:45, and then having to go to work for eight hours. I’m sick of my slowing-down metabolism, that requires me to actually work out if I want to fit into my clothes. I’m fed up with saying, “No, I can’t go out tonight. I have to work tomorrow,” and being tired on Friday nights when I should want to party. I can’t stand the voice in my head that asks me if I’ve had enough fruit or vegetables today.

Sigh. I need a nap.

  1. Dear Anna,
Please take comfort in two facts:

    1. I will always be much, MUCH older than you.

    2. I say “smuggling peas” ALL THE TIME now and always give you credit. Wicked pissah.

If neither of those helps, I suggest renting the SpongeBob movie and watching it with a bottle of red wine. See, kids can’t do THAT! HA! (Well, they kinda shouldn’t, anyway…nevermind.)

  2. Haha- very funny helen! And yeah Anna, I’m all set with this grown up business too. It’s lame. I’m quitting. And I’m taking my toys with me!

  3. Thanks you two! I’m TOTALLY watching spongebob with booze this weekend… and playing with toys! Yeah!
    :)
