Movie Awards Season

Right now, I am watching the Academy Awards, supposedly the most prestigious award that people in the film industry can earn. Well, I haven’t believed that since “Titanic” won Best Picture in ‘97, but I still watch every year; I don’t know if that’s out of tradition or because I am hoping that they can redeem themselves for that RIDICULOUS error in judgement. Last year came pretty close to redeeming the Awards for me when “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” won Best Picture, but this year is pretty critical for me too. We’ll have to see what happens.

But, what I really want to post about right now is Halle Berry. I know she’s been getting a lot of sh*t, and rightly so, about doing such bad movies after winning an Academy Award. Winning the Razzie for Worst Actress for her role in Catwoman just confirmed what we all already knew – Catwoman sucked. But, the fact that Halle turned up to accept the award, made me LOVE her. Is there any other actress in Hollywood that would show up and laugh about their flops? I don’t think so – and I respect her so much for it.

California Dreamin’

I love the OC.

There, I said it. Make fun of me if you want, but I can’t get over how FABULOUS this show is. It’s so dramatic, but somehow manages to stop just short of being ridiculous. Maybe that’s because all of the ridiculous things they do are blatantly making fun of other cheesy shows or movies.

Anyways, tonight’s episode was great – everything came together so seamlessly – I laughed, I cried, and when it ended, I didn’t sit there thinking, “are you freakin’ kidding me?”

Best parts of tonight’s episode? Well, too many to count, but I thought the funniest part was when Seth (who I have a huge crush on!) said he was going to watch a marathon of “Sherman Oaks.” When Ryan asked what that was, Seth told him it was the “true version” of “The Valley.” “Why watch the angst of fictional characters when you can watch real people in contrived situations?”

I LOVE how “The OC” makes fun of itself, its ripoffs, and all pop culture.

I’m working on it!

So, I’ve been playing around the last couple of days, figuring out how this is all going to work. Thankfully, I’m being mentored by Aeki Tuesday, a musical and blogging genius, so this will all be FABULOUS pretty soon.

I can’t wait – hopefully my next post will be something interesting, for a change.

First Day

So, this is it. My big first day. I’ve finally jumped on the blogging bandwagon!

Why, you ask? Well, it’s quite simple. I am completely obsessed – OBSESSED! – with my friend Alexis’ blog, and I figured that if I have time to read and post on hers about a hundred times a day, maybe I have time to write my own.

Anyways, I have to try and figure out this system, so I’m leaving now. But fret not, I’m planning on posting something new at least once a day….
